    ABSTRACT: The problem of supersonic motion of a plane wedge through a temperature inhomogeneity of a stratified structure is studied numerically. The results obtained with the aid of the march computation method suggested by the authors are compared with calculations by the monotonic explicit McCormack finite-difference scheme.

    ABSTRACT: The well-known mathematical models are elaborated to study transport processes of particles of various origin in an ion-plasma sputter-deposition system (SDS). Detailed investigation of the transport of reactants to the growing surface enables one to predict the uniformity of the deposited film in both thickness and composition and also to detect the most dangerous regions on the substrate surface with respect to possible resputtering. The above-mentioned processes are considered using the YBaCuO system as an example. It has been found that the use of shields between a target and a substrate allows one to obtain films with high thickness and cation composition uniformity at planar on-axis arrangement. It has been shown that for typical regimes of the modern magnetron process of high-temperature superconducting (HTSC) films, the BaO particles are far more dangerous than the oxygen atoms, the bombardment by the latter being negligible near the magnetron axis. The possibility of hydrodynamic control of the deposition process of multicomponent thin films in SDS is demonstrated. © 1995.

    ABSTRACT: The problem of time-dependent development of stresses and strains in the thin-walled shell of a spherical symmetrical fuel element under the effect of varying internal forces due to the swelling of the fuel and gas pressure in the internal cavity, as well as external forces connected with the pressure in the heat carrier, is solved. Known relations connecting stress magnitudes with plastic deformation magnitudes and creep deformation rates are adopted. An algorithm of numerical solution of the integro-differential equations obtained is proposed. Examples of calculation of the development of deformations and stresses in the system considered are given.

    ABSTRACT: The MHD approach is used to investigate the flow of a conducting gas in flared annular nozzle whose walls are held at different potentials. The external magnetic field is constant over time. The numerical simulation is based on a three-fluid model for a gas which is not at ionization equilibrium. This numerical method yields, a detailed picture of the flow and determines the mechanism for vortex formation. The effects of electric and magnetic fields on the flow of structure are discuused.
